You can serve as an Officer in the Rangers but chances are really slim and it's a daunting process. Not to mention you won't even be eligible until you have already been a platoon leader and then you have to have the support of your chain of command and then hit the year group right and then....as ...

SCAR or XM8?

Searched around, couldn't find any mention of the SCAR rifle.

Will the Rangers (as part of SOCOM) be going with the FN SCAR, or sticking with the Army and its XM8?

Re: ,

One Kingdom that was called Theves was known for them and had good fighters. But the Spartans were NOT. That is a myth that jealousy may have brought.

This is an interesting topic. Ranger Chiron, I believe you are referring to the Sacred Band of Thebes. The Sacred Band was the most respected and ...

Just yesterday I was at MEPs and over heard a recruiter giving this one ass hat a Opt 40 contract. The kid did not even know what it was so the recruiter kindly explained and said this.

~Joseph

Interesting. Here's a question: how come some people have to fight tooth-and-nail for an Option 40 ...

Has anyone else seen Ong-Bak yet? It's only in limited release so it may not be available everywhere but... if you get the chance...

...wow. Best fight scenes ever in a movie, hands down. None of that wire-fu crap, just pure mayhem. Tony Jaa (the main actor) is Bruce Lee and then some. I don't ...

This one really stuck with me... especially given what I'm trying to decide:

Don't know if it's original, but it summed things up pretty well.

Anyone around DC or NYC?

Rangers, Vets, DEPs, Newts:

Is anyone located around the DC or NYC area? I attend school in Maryland and will live in NY over the summer (about 45 minutes north of NYC).

I'm not ready to request a mentor yet (since I won't be able to sign a contract for at least six months), but I'd love to find ...

Question for you, Noah... or maybe SFC hit-it, since I think Noah is off at BCT:

The term of enlistment on the contract says 4 years, 19 weeks. I was under the impression that a Ranger contract is 4 years even... do the extra 19 weeks represent Noah's being in the DEP program? (i.e., time between ...

The math stuff isn't too tough if you take your time and read each question carefully to figure out what it's asking for. Make sure you're comfortable with doing any type of computation (long division, multiplication with decimals, algebra etc.) by hand. I hadn't done some of that stuff since high ...

TJS525,

I also met with a recruiter a few days ago and he explained the same thing to me. My recruiter was making the point that getting a 50 on the ASVAB pretty much translates into getting a 110 on the GT, and so that's why I didn't "need to worry" about the 110. I don't know if he is correct ...

Not yet, but I'm a little surprised no one did. That was a pretty arrogant post I made. I'm not proud of it, but what was said, was said, and I'll leave it be.

I will continue to lurk quietly and absorb as much as I can.
