I guess we were lucky to have all those guys at the Battle of the bulge that were JUST infantry. Most of the guys getting blown to shit every day they are JUST infantry. I know you asked to not take offence. Sorry I tried, didnt work. You seem to be very confident. Thats a plus. When faced with the reality of training and living everyday as a soldier. I wonder how you would hold up?

Thank you for the welcome. I would like to reiterate that I have the utmost respect and reverence for ALL soldiers, regardless of duty, rank, or type of service. I recognize that I worded that section of my introduction poorly and I take responsibility for it.
Thank you again for the welcome, and I will continue on my path to a decision.

To be honest, I wonder the same things about myself. I think that's what brought me here to this site, and what has me considering a tour of service after graduation. You seem to be very confident. Welcome Young Man. FYI, your SAT and my own were withing 4 points of the other and my GPA was higher. That being said, I went enlisted and stayed enlisted because I KNEW what I wanted.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

During my illustrious career, I had several commanders who tried to conive me into going through OCS, but I never wanted that. As an officer (especially as you advance in rank), you'll have limited interactions with the "boys," or the rank and file. I was always most content when I was there amongst them. Also, it's great to be academically gifted, but some of the best soldiers (and Rangers) that I ever met were dumb as posts (academically) - put 'em in the field and you couldn't touch them. Officer or enlisted - who knows, you might love it so much that you decide to forego all of your money making schemes and plans.....then again, maybe not....only one way to find out.
