Leatherneck (and Rangers), thanks for sound advice. I'd like to point out (even though it SHOULD be obvious, it all too often isn't) this is good advice for ALL of the youngsters on here.

Case in fuckin point (the fuckin is cos I am pissed at ME):
I am 25 years old. I live at home with my father. Not because it is a great way to save money. But because I NEVER built ANY kinds of savings. My husband and I manage to blow all our money, got evicted from a GREAT apartment, and moved back home. For those who have yet to LEAVE home, or who have left and not gone back with your tail between your legs, let me say this: IT FUCKIN SUCKS SWALLOWING YOUR PRIDE BECAUSE YOU WERE STUPID!!!!!!!!! I thank god to this MINUTE that my father is a decent man.

I am now just struggling to pay off what i owe my father for living here, buy food, and have a small amount to live off of (and I am doing it on $66 a week unemployment benefits. Started working PT today TFG).

LISTEN to those who are there/have been there. I never did, and to this day regret that I was so stupid....

The VIP room is just an hour long lap dance in private. If the stripper thinks you will dish out more money, she might get a little more touchy feely than they are supposed to.

One thing I have noticed is that, the stippers will flock to the most pathetic looking people in the crowd. Sitting on their laps and talking shit with them (trying to get them to spend money). So if they dont talk to you, take it as a compliment.

Excellent advice LN!

You young guys need to appreciate something about all of these "deals"; the guys who are selling them to you are EXPERTS in their field, which is parting you from your money on uneven and unfair terms.

They are highly motivated, highly disciplined, highly experienced, and highly trained in their goals and objectives. They are also highly compensated via direct commissions from your sale. Most of you are none of those things...yet.

They are thoroughly trained in 1) establishing "rapport" 2) overcoming objections, and 3) "closing" deals.

If you need "terms" or "financing" for a luxury item, you CANNOT afford it.

Knives, guns, stationery, electronics, car accessories, bibles, encyclopedias, watches, jewelry, exercise equipment, many insurance "plans", and ANYTHING at "Rent to Own" stores fall into the category above.

If you need "terms" or "financing" for a necessity, you can usually find a better way to pay for it if you hunt around.

Listen to us, because we have seen it happen and it won't be funny if it happens to you.

And remember, no matter what they tell you, there is no sex in the "Champagne Room".

STRIPPERS ONLY LOVE YOU FOR YOUR MONEY. NO MATTER HOW MUCH THEY SAY "OH, YOU'RE DIFFERENT. I REALLY LIKE YOU". THEY JUST WANT YOUR FUCKING MONEY AND NOTHING MORE

Too many times have I seen privates fall for this. "Oh man, I spent 300 dollars on this one chick and she asked me out on a date!".

DONT FALL FOR IT!.
I agree with Ranger deleon275 on this..don't even think about messing with a stripper as you'll be left high and dry when all is said and done.

I learned this the hard way.

When buying a new car remember that you have to have insurance also. Depending on the car you could be paying more than your car payment.

Also, if you can put $ 50 or $ 75 bucks away for retirement (into and IRA) when you are 18 you will be amazed at how quickly it can build up. I know you aren't thinking that way now but you can retire and do the things you want to do instead of eating dogfood and using candles for heat....or you can just blow it on beer and pussy like the rest of us did.
For all DEPs out there, this is good advice. When i went to a DEP conference, to move up in pay grade, we did the PT test, test Ranks, medical shit, Asmyth, etc, and at the end of it all they had these financial advisors come in and talk to all of us DEPs about IRA and Roth IRA. It was about 35 min long and went in some good depth about them. I still have the papers they handed out. They didn't recieve a dime from doing this, so i know they were just trying to help us out. My advice to all you DEPs is to go to a DEP conference, even if you can't move up in pay grade, you will learn alot of things, even look highspeed on somethings in basic. I'm already planning on setting up an IRA and having an automatic withdrawl of $50 each month. If i don't see it i can't spend it.

Looking back, the pay check didn't even matter since I was single and got three hots and a cot. I was too young to legally drink and I just blew my money on stupid shit. If I had been smart I could have bought a little plot of land back home and had it paid for when I ETS'd. Realesate is always a good investment. The interest rate is about as low as you can find on anything and you will build equity. Hell, they aren't making land anymore. Also, there is a certain amount of pride that comes with being a landowner. $$$$$$$$$

This is slightly off topic but I've heard that a lot of guys go into the service and get married shortly after.

Is there any truth to this? and if so, is that something that should also be avoided?
