KOD,
I urinated in the Wheaties of the last civilian who posted, so I'll give you the kinder, gentler approach.
Your time ("around 16 min for 2 miles") is non-specific. I can guarantee you from personal experience that 5 seconds can be the difference between life and death. "Around 2 minutes" can mean anything from 90 seconds to 150 seconds, and the 60 ticks in between are very precious.
Do a standard Army Physical Fitness Test. Post the specific results here. If you're 100% serious, then beg and plead for someone to help you out.

Get the PT requirements for RIP, Pre- Ranger & Ranger School & give them to your fitness trainer. Doing weight work is fine but make sure you can do the pushups, pullups & situps required of you to meet your goal of becoming a Ranger.
I wrestled from grade school on, lifted weights & did Judo & Kenpo for years & still had a hard time with pushups & situps until I actually concentrated on them.
There's nothing to better prepare you for an excercize you'll be tested on than actually doing that excercize!

I am attending the University at Buffalo studying social science and legal studies. I have also studied Spanish and Arabic; I will be graduating with a 3.4 gpa. As for PT I have timed around 16 min for 2 miles, 50 pushups, 40 situps. I am also currently enrolled in a independent study class with a fitness instructor from the University and I am working out every morning. The fitness routine includes 3 miles every other day (M,W,F) and weight training on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm currently in the process of talking to a recruiter and getting an option 40 and I could really use some advice. I am 100% serious and have a true commitment.
Cut the Roids Numbnuts, and that run time should improve.........They are obviously not helping you with the pushups anyhow.
my 'roids bother me when I do situps not pushups.

You really need to work on your PT. Push-ups/sit-ups AND pull-ups.Fishboy wrote:Welcome to the site.
On a side note, your PT stats suck.........
put more into your everyday workout.
And you're supposed to run the 2 miles, not fucking walk.
This site has just what you need, everything is here for you, find it, read it, do it and you'll be good to go, or at least have a good head start.

Roger Ranger 42L5V, Ranger Dafid Ranger, Ranger Fishboy, Ranger Hoover, Ranger The Sleepy Doc and Ranger cams. I will tell my fitness instructor that I am cutting out the lifting routine, I will begin to train strictly in running, pushups, situps and pullups. Should I be doing this everyday or every other day?
This is no exaggeration either, there will be plenty of days where unlike the regular army doing maybe some jumping jacks and a 3 mile run with a 9 min pace, still losing people as they fall out and walk, you will be doing PT 3 times a day, balls to the wall each time, 5 to 7 miles on average with sub 6 min miles and if you fall out and walk, you will be DX'd most ricky tick.Cliv03 wrote:KOD:Should I be doing this everyday or every other day?
3 times a day.
Throw up on yourself, your buddy next to you, shit your pants, whatever it takes, but you can't quit or fall back.
You'll have plenty of time later on to go the gym with your Ranger Buddies and build muscle, right now you need endurance, lots of it.
