There was a guy who is of incredible Ranger fame who before coming in the Army was about 100 pounds overweight. Not the gland problem overweight...the garden variety eat a train load of potatoes and butter kind. A Ranger, a CSM...a BAD mofo.....and in high school they called him tubby. Later on they called nothing at all. At least not without having a fully qualified Surgeon and ER staff available It can be done. Drive on.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

Ranger Abell9, this Ranger whatever his name may be will serve as an inspiration. I'm well over half way to losing 100LBs and have no reason to stop now. In my mind I know it can be done, and it will be done if I have anything to say about it.

Ranger Vee, let me clarify. I'm saying that I WILL complete my goal of losing 100 pounds, not becoming a Ranger. Yes, I will not fail myself.

Attention to detail will help you out greatly.

As a man who shares your first name I have to admit your parents named you correctly, now its your responsibility to live up to it!!!

Size or how much you can bench doesn't mean jack shit (though physical strenght is a factor). But if you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive, mental toughness and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.

Achieve your stated objective, don't waste our time telling us how much you want it, just do what's necessary (and then some) to get the job done.

Read, listen, take your lumps when you step on your dick and learn from those who have been there done that and continue to represent our Country as U.S. Army Rangers.

Its all on you Dave. I was in your boat once upon a time. At 16 years old I was 6'2" and weighed in at 294lb. When I went to basic 21 months later, I weighed 197 lb. You will find having such dedication a great asset both in the Army as well as in life. Good luck. As one of these Rangers has once said, I quote it roughly, the Regiment doesnt want you, but how much do you want IT.
