Introduction.

Post by El Dave »

Hello, my name is David. I'm 22 and live in Southeast Wisconsin. In the last year I realised I needed a change in life as I was making little forward progress. I have decided to enlist in the Army, which I have had on my mind since I was in high school. This time last year I was pushing 270 pounds at 5'7, I've since dropped 65 pounds since last August and have been going to the YMCA daily for some time. I was a disgusting fat pig and still am to some extent since I'm still about 25 pounds overweight for my build. I think about where I was and where am I now, there is NO way I will turn back at this point. I have been lurking here for a few weeks and have come to learn about the Army and Rangers.

That said, hello and thank you for allowing me to be a guest on your boards.

Welcome to the site. So you want to join the Army? Have you decided what you want to be yet?
What ever you do, it sounds like you still have some work to do.

There is some excellent info on site about getting in shape. If you were thinking about becoming a Ranger, I would reccommend a running program starting yesterday. Good luck!

Now you just made a good honest
1st post, with your weight and size,
you still have a way to go but you
are on your way.
Do not stop with your weight loss program ,
but like the other Rangers have said RUN.
PT your Ass off and then some.
With the right mind you can do it. It's
up to you.
Good luck.

Thank you all for the replies.

Ranger HAR, thank you for the words of encouragement. At my current rate I should hit 199 LBs within the next two weeks. I mostly do cardio for exercise and have been working on building my running up. I will indeed heed your and other's advice regarding adding more running as it is my weakest trait.

With luck I should be able to go to MEPS in the next month or so for my physical.
