Ranger Steadfast,
Thank you for your reply.
My purpose in asking is to determine whether Crossfit has lived up to its claims in the preparation of any DEPers and/or the training of current and former military personnel.

The Crossfit protocol
Has anybody followed the Crossfit protocol with good results? If so, how has it affected your PFT scores? Finally, if anybody has rejected this system, please indicate why.

Goal for time holding the front leaning rest
I searched the site and found references to holding the FLR anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Are these numbers accurate reflections of what will be expected (i.e. two hours of holding the FLR without any recovery)? What would be a good goal for holding this position without any recovery? What ki...

Entering Batt. as a Spec 4
It is my understanding that if one enlists with a college degree, one enters the Army as a Spec 4. That being the case, what will the relationship be between tabbed Spec 4's and non-tabbed Spec 4's?

Ranger Spartan, Thanks for your reply. Is the Common Skills Field Manual you mentioned also called Common Tasks? A cursory search online returned a Common Tasks manual, but no Common Skills. Any help in locating this would be greatly appreciated. After reading your post, I looked through the Common ...

Ranger Slowpoke, Thank you for your reply. I agree with you that the structure of Ranger training will be way above my pay grade. I believe the question is relevant to me, however, because I have not yet decided to enlist with a view to becoming a Ranger. I am considering it quite seriously and have...

Diff. b/w the spread of Spec Ops assets in Navy vs. Army
I am curious about a major difference in the way the Navy structures its Spec Ops assets compared to the way the Army does things. It seems to me that Navy Special Warfare concentrates its combat-side (combat-side as opposed to those NSW support groups that don't foray downrange) Spec Ops skills int...

Specific skill training and the structure of its instruction
For those who have BTDT, I’d appreciate your recollection of the skills training you received in the Battalions as well as how the instruction was structured. For example, were you taught tracking? If so, was it a formal curriculum? Was it taught in a single, set-aside block of time (e.g. a day, s...

Ranger Bell, I intend to enlist so that I can obtain an Option 40 and secure a chance to pass RIP and serve in the 75th. I have been told that it is possible to get OCS and Airborne School in one's contract, after which one would try to secure a spot in ROP. If I have my information correct, a 2LT w...

% of Tabbed and Non-tabbed who can complete a tour w/ a Batt
I recently read a post on this site (I searched for it in order to reference it here, but was not able to narrow the search in any helpful way) in which its author claimed that most soldiers are not able to endure a full two years in one of the battalions (they made no mention of serving at HQ) eith...

Introducing Smug
Cheers! Smug is my username. I am 26, finished with college, and currently employed as an electrical estimator. I am seriously considering enlisting in the US Army with a view to becomming a Ranger. My thanks to the administrators for the time they give to this site and to all the BTDTs that offer p...
