Did this one today.
Five and a half miler. Moderate pace.
20 minutes hard and fast boxing drills on the heavy bag (with someone yelling at me for motivation.) Minimal rest periods, like 30 secs.
Short weight training circuit.
It could be better, but it was something different. Working the heavy bag brought on the smoke.
Good PT

That is a lot of boxing. How long were your iterations?RO3434 wrote: 20 minutes hard and fast boxing drills on the heavy bag (with someone yelling at me for motivation.) Minimal rest periods, like 30 secs.
.
Thanks for asking Ranger Matador275.
I warmed up with some light jabs for about 60 secs., took a break for 30-45 secs. then started doing 1-2 mins of striking with 30 secs breaks in between. My buddy was holding the bag and motivating me with verbage. It was really a good work-out, especially after getting in a five and a half miler. I guess you could say that I only boxed for about 12-13 mins out of the 20, but if it wasn't for the breaks, I wouldn't have made it very long. I am by no means a fighter and this is only the second time I have worked out on the heavy bag, but I must admit that afterwards, I felt "smoked," but in a different way. I also felt "frustration-free" for a while thereafterwards.
It is definitely a good change to any PT routine. The circuit on the weight machine afterwards finished me off.

Interesting. The reason I was asking, was because two other guys on this board and I used the "Bas Rutten Workout" for about three months in late 2004 until early 2005. The rounds tended to be one to two minutes each, with 30 second recovery. All of it was shadow-boxing, with him (Bas) yelling out one of 4 different combinations out. IF you can find it online, I suggest you order it. If you are into Boxing, Thaiboxing or any sort of MMA, this is about the best workout you can get in, anywhere, anytime.
