Remember Hopps? (RANGER)
Remember Hopps? (RANGER)
I just got a phone call that made my entire week! Remember Hopps?....the little immature high school kid that I mentored? Well, he doesn't sound like a little punk kid anymore. In fact, he sounds like a squared away soldier.
Hopps is in Week 2 of RIP! He is the acting Plt. Sgt. for 3rd Platoon. There was no bravado, no bragging, and no razzle-dazzle in his words. He seemed very focused, very serious, and dead set on accomplishing what he set out to do. This young man wants it bad, and it shows.
He said that out of the 148 men who started RIP, they are already down to 92. The Cadre has promised to delete many more at Cole Range, which is coming up next.
DEPs, just to reinforce what we've been telling you in reference to the CWST, Hopps advised me that the guy who scored one of the highest PT scores (351) failed the CWST and got "world-wide." If you're a weak swimmer.........start swimming!
Keep up the excellent work, Hopps! Let me know when you are wearing that Tan Beret!!!

I'm loosing my edge. I was rather nice too him. Seems like a good kid he's got his shit squared away. I'm glad he didn't start to play that buddy buddy shit. He acted like a Ranger.

I quit mentoring him for a period after that little prank (and some others...like chopping up the rented beer keg with an ax...

When we talked on the phone the other evening, I never would've guessed in a million years that it was Hopps. He's turning into a warrior. Neat shit! Mold him well, H8.
