SITREP
Rangers,
I was finally given the opportunity to take an APFT.
Push up:75
Sit up:83
Run: 12:50
Score: 300
I am expecting my run to continue to go up noticeably over the next few months and even more so once we redeploy, seeing as we are at 3300 feet higher in elevation than Anchorage. Before we left I was running an 11:50.
I have been able to enter this into my ERB (I had no PT score on my ERB, and did not bring any of my past PT cards with me) and have submitted it to my regiment recruiter.
Next step is to receive the packet and submit it.

Re: SITREP
I heard back from the 75th recruiter today and they will not even consider me until I am 6 months away from my DROS date. I still have two years till my dros date. As such, I have started looking into the steps to put in a packet for RS. My plan now is to attend RS once we redeploy, then finish my last 18 months before I am able to go TDY to RASP. As always, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you are deployed right now, what is the impact on your CoC if you go to RS?musicmano3596 wrote:I still have two years till my dros date. Re: SITREP
IEDmagnet,
Yes, 4/25 is stationed in Anchorage which is considered an OCONUS duty station so I owe them 3 years,
Ranger Jim,
I wouldn't be going while we are deployed here, seeing as we are already extremely undermanned. I will be waiting until we return back to Alaska (next summer, hopefully attend RS in the winter. Alaska winter to Georgia winter....I'm going to have to adapt to the heat
but at least it will not be Alaska to Georgia summer! )

Re: SITREP
Alaska, Hawaii, and Italy and the three Infantry OCONUS duty stations. 2 brigades from the 25th are in AK (4th (Airborne) and I believe it is the 3rd up in wainwright which is a stryker brigade) and 1st and 2nd are in Hawaii.

Re: SITREP
I must say, I am extremely grateful I am not stationed up at Wainwright. Temperatures are an average of 30-50 degrees colder than Anchorage. And black rapids training area is literally the north pole. That shit SUCKS. Summer time is in the single digits or colder. Fortunately I have not had the winter experience at Black Rapids yet, but I have heard it is more than likely the shittiest place in the world to spend a week.

I can vouch for that! We spent some time over in Fort Greely and a week at NWTC. Never thought I would see snow in the middle of August.
A Co, 3/75.
Re: SITREP
I was just up there this summer, my son lives in North Pole, AK, just southeast of Fairbanks. I used to love winter training at Ft Wainwright and I've been to NWTC at Ft Greely both in the winter and summer and it is a beautiful place.
