Introduction-Bill

Post by bill_d »

Rangers,

My name is Bill. I am a future soldier with a ship date of 19042011 for Fort Sill, OK. MOS 68W, no options. I hope to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment.

I am 20 years old and reside in New Jersey. I have had two semesters' worth of college (Rutgers Univ) and will be entering the Army as an E-2; E-3 is a possibility if I can refer someone and they enlist. I have been browsing these forums rigorously for severals months prior to and since my enlistment in November and have found the information provided to be invaluable. I have always had an interest in the military and a desire to serve my country, but the thought did not seriously manifest itself until last spring.

My current PT scores:
Pushups in 2 min - 75
Situps in 2 min - 80
2 mile run - 14:00
I know I have much room for improvement. I also just finished breaking in a pair of Bellevilles and am expecting a surplus, large ALICE pack in the mail this week.
I do not know if I have what it takes to be a Ranger. I am worried about failing. But I have promised myself to be as physically and mentally prepared as possible before shipping out.

I would like to extend my gratitude to all the veterans, current servicemembers, and their family members on this board for their service to our country. I would like to thank the Rangers for making this message board possible and allowing DEP's like me to share it with them.

Respectfully,

Bill

I am not afraid of taking the leap. I am afraid of failing because I know being worrying about my chances will keep me on my toes and motivate me to prepare.

It's good to be nervous, and sometimes it's okay to be afraid. But never allow yourself the though that you "could" fail. You must always believe you "will" succeed. Chew on that for a bit.
