I think the general rule for fighting is for protecting yourself, or to protect others who can't protect themselves.
I don't know your schools standpoint on the legality of fighting at school, but don't get into any legal trouble. But if you're about to get beat up, then give 'em hell.

Re: Need Advice
In this time of "tolerance", "political correctness" and "non-violence", bullying is a bigger problem then ever, as the bullies have less fear of retaliation. I say you start by working the socialist school system's rules, then enter a holding pattern on any extra curricular justice. If they have any fear of you at all, just leaving the information that you want to beat their asses out there might be enough of a deterrent,
If it's not, just make sure you are stealthy enough not to get caught.

Can you get this "one exception" on board with whatever your plans are to protect others? Two courageous people can inspire far more courage in the "sheep" than one person can alone. Plus, it always helps to have a "battle buddy" to keep you from getting blindsided.FreedomXforAll wrote:The problem is, my friends (with one exception) don't know how to fight.

I will always remember this one bully I fought. I probably would have won if her little sister hadn't jumped in. :D

Being Air Force I say go for "Shock and Awe". Maybe a GBU-17 or something.
Seriously, having a positive, confident, intelligent temperament is your best weapon. Wrong or right, messing up in-school is always a loser unless you are attacked in a manner that threatens your safety. If that happens, then I say disable the enemy and pay the piper. We all know these schools are run as politically correct indoctrination camps. So even if you are right, you end up wrong with the communist wardens. It's better when you go into the principals meeting with pressed trousers and the other guy has a scar from where the doctors surgically removed the soccer ball from his skull.
Your friends need to get a gym and get some training as it appears you did. Then as a team, nobody will mess with you. Notice the plural- team. You can protect your friends in certain situations, but you won't be there when they take out the garbage. That's a metaphor in case you didn't get it.
I have kidded around a lot here, but this is serious and from my experience as a parent. The real secret is being a good student who HAPPENS TO BE a good fighter. Brains first, brawn next. That gives you good judgment, permits an intuitive, measured perspective which sorts real threats from foolish harassment and interrupts a potential emotional response with intelligent, deliberate action. You may not be able to avoid fights since there is almost always some moron that will take you there irrespective of the consequences. But it is better to do so as a dedicated student. Guess who ultimately wins not only the fight, but in life?

First of all, let me say I don't know where you live or what the laws are anywhere but in SC.
In SC a person is allowed to fight in defense of himself, and depending on the officer you get that day, to protect others. The limit being that the defender can only use that force which is necessary to stop the battery from continuing. Meaning if you jump me and I knock you out, I can't continue beating your tail. If you're a sissy and I hit you and you cry, I can't start kicking you to prove a point. If that makes any sense....
That being said I will also say that schools now a days are a hell of a lot less tolerant about in school fighting than they used to be when I was in. Schools will prosecute you for whatever they can, be it assault and battery or (in SC) disrupting school. Both of which can land you a conviction, and as one of the active recruiters on here has said before, they aren't taking moral waivers for Opt 40s.
Noble as your cause may be, is it worth your future? That is the question you have to ask yourself, cause in the end you're the one living with your decision. There's no legally right answer, and nothing any of us can say to make YOUR decision any easier... I commend you for wanting to be a protector, most would just turn their head and pretend it wasn't happen. Outside of that, I will pass a gem to you that my father passed to me....
"Try not to fight, it's only a last resort, but if you do get in a fight.... you better not even consider losing to anyone."

By the way, here is a visual metaphor. Notice it is a team effort.

If you want to be successful at anything, you'll need to develop a never quit attitude. Don't let life happen to you. Grab it by the throat and make life dance to your tune.

Re: Need Advice
I am a High School teacher, and knowing what I know, and if I had to relive my teenage years now...
I wouldn't talk smack, or go around instigating the fight, but the minute one of them does anything towards me I would go apeshit and just start beating the hell out of them. Go from mild mannered clown to Charles Manson in the blink of an eye. The most you get is a few days out of school, and a reputation as someone who can possibly go nuts if you fuck with him.
Not a bad reputation to have sometimes.
However, that is just me.

Re: Need Advice
If they come at you, hit em when no one's looking. The school is not going to come to your aid. sometimes you just have to put someone on the ground before they get the message.
I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.
