Questions please answer thank you!

Post by JULIE »

I'm new to the forum, and new to all of the Ranger career. My husband is planning on going to get his tab, he wants to follow his dads footsteps, I'm just concern how it works with someone that has a family. As far as I know which is not a lot is that you guys are gone most of the time. is is true that most rangers are not married and if they are the divorce rate is high? How would a life of a married ranger be? I married a military man and I will support him 100% and I have for the past 9 years that we have been married. But i'm just scare of the unknown I guess and all i need is a little advice..thank you for the help

thank you for your service :) God Bless!

Welcome and thank you for marrying a Patriot. Love, respect, trust, communication and supporting your spouse should take things along pretty well. That bit of advise is just not for you, it is for both of you.

Welcome!

It makes a difference if he is going to Ranger School or the Ranger Regiment. They are different things.

Welcome Ma'am & thank you for supporting your soldier!
Please read around the forums that are open to you, several other wives and girlfriends have asked much the same thing this year.
As McD said, there is a signifigant difference between if he is going to the school or trying out for the Regiment. If the latter, he will have to get his tab (ie: go to the school) sooner or later.
It will be tough on you two, but if you have a strong relationship, "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Julie,
I am not a Ranger; however, I believe I can make a comment.
My wife and I had known each other for 3 years, prior to our
getting married. We were married as I was intransit from WRAMC
to Ft. Hood. Honeymoon at Ft. Hood....now that's a great start.
I belonged to a medical support element; thus, spent a LOT of
time DTY and in the field. I could be gone for months at a time.
We did this for 6 years; and that was 30 years ago. Marriage
is what you male it....ours has been a learning experience.
I love my wife and sons dearly; and would do anything for them.
Since your husband will be going for his Rager Tab; he will be
receiving a paramont word of advice from all other Rangers.
DON'T EVER QUIT! This applies to everything in life. My best
to you both.

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.
