Old Ranger new to site
Hello everyone, hopefully I know some of the Rangers on this site.
I served in !st Bat from Oct. 83 thru Dec 84. Lt Col Wesley B Taylor was the Batt Commander. I was assigned to HHC Commo. I have quite a few picures I would like to post as soon as I get through the varification process, whatever that means. I have pics of the repel tower and confidence course at HAAF from back when RIP was there. I was in one of the last classes at HAAF before the Rangers went regimental. Was going through RIP when Grenada went down and supported the Operation Urgent Fury by loading ammo, weapons, MRE's etc throughout the deployment. I still have an Abram's certificate from that an another one for inspection readyness later on in Battalion. I was responsible for the battery wharehouse and all radio upkeep in those days.
During my time there I was deployed to Puerto Rico, Yakima, and Honduras. Honduras was real world mission. The intent was to engage gun runners, we never made contact.
Never made it to Ranger School, my slot kept getting moved out with all the regimental increases to 3rd Bat they had priority. I was only in Batt. for 14 months but the experience has lasted a lifetime. I am now very successful, i have a lot of resposibility with a fortune 500 company and I have always carried what I have learned from being a Ranger, that nothing is impossible if you don't give up, are motivated and well trained.
