Introduction

Post by Lariat »

Rangers,

First, thank you for your service to our country. You inspire and motivate me to follow in your footsteps on a daily basis. My name is Joe. I live in central New York. I’m 23 years old and work for Key Bank. I signed an 11x OPT 40 contract today. My ship date is 20100217.

I have done research concerning the 75th Ranger Regiment, but the more I read here at ArmyRanger.com, the more I realize I have much to learn. I decided to join the military in order to serve our country. My goal is to do so in the 75th Ranger Regiment. I intend to glean as much knowledge as possible before shipping to OSUT. I will keep my eyes and ears open, and my mouth shut; work hard, and be a team player. Through reading the threads and receiving guidance on this site, a strong work ethic, a great desire to be a Ranger, and a refusal to quit, I feel I will accomplish my goals.

I have been using Ranger Silverback’s push-up improvement, APFT improvement, and sprint work to improve my PT scores. I focus on doing strict push-ups and sit-ups (touch chest to the ground, back perpendicular to the ground, respectively). I consistently see improvement in all areas. When I began my preparation, my run times needed the most attention, with push-ups being a close second. That said, I feel there is room for much improvement in every area of my PT. As of yesterday my self-administered scores are:

63 push-ups
92 sit-ups
12:39 2 mile
14 pull-ups (palms facing out)

Joe, that was an outstanding intro. You pretty much covered it all. Continue leading by example, and you'll go far.

Welcome to the site, and thank you for enlisting.

Welcome and congratulations for enlisting for the opportunity to become an Army Ranger. Yours is a model introduction post. Now work on those pushups, and read and heed the ROE PM I have sent you.

Welcome Joe. This is a hard crew to impress... you did good. Keep your focus, do your PT, stay health and out of trouble. Where in central NY are you? Syracuse?
