DEPS: which BN do you wish for?
DEPS: which BN do you wish for?
DEP's, if the time for Bn assignment came and they gave you the option to choose; which Bn would you choose? 1st, 2nd, or 3rd?
1st = Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia
2nd = Fort Lewis, Washington
3rd = Fort Benning, Georgia
Personally, if someone asked me, I would say Fort Benning: But then again they're all the same

Any of them, A Ranger is a Ranger, the Bn they are assigned to shouldn't matter.
(I'd either pick 1st or 3rd )

that said, you should know that it is very common for someone to end up as far away from home as possible when getting a duty station. Something about Murphy's Law.....

Perhaps? I believe a Ranger parent mentioned that her sons RIP class were all given options to choose where they wanted to be.Bravo57 wrote:Or you could get assigned based on your SSN.

they ran an OML (Order of Merit list) for my RIP class. we all asked for what we wanted, we were told who was going where. then it changed and my whole class ended up in 3rd. shit happens.Bravo57 wrote:

Re: DEPS: which BN do you wish for?
A good friend of mine is in 2nd bat. He said that when I get through RASP he will talk to his First Sergeant and may be able to pull some strings so I can get to 2nd bat with him in Washington. Is this accurate or is my friend shooting some ...poo?

A guy in my son's class got assigned to 2nd Batt, 30 min from his home. He was so happy. Then someone got wind of it and very quickly he was re-assigned.
