Yugo SKS

Post by Runner »

Arright, so I'm sitting here at the range with my grandpa's .22 plinkin at that target, I stand up to reload and look up, and this guy and two sons is comin into the range with 3 guns. So I'm standing here reloading and I look over and he pulls out this odd lookin thing preps it and fires a few times, a pretty freakin loud bang when all you've been hearing all day was the POP of your .22. So apparently he sees me cleaning up the drool and as he calls a cease fire and comes over and says, "Hey, if you want to I'll let you fire my Yugo". My eyes widened so he took this as a yes. He comes back with this thing, sets it down with its 10 round clip and lets me take 3 shots off with it. The thing had THE nicest kick I've ever felt in the gun, even though it was a 7.62, the weight of the gun took away the force from the kick. The dove tail sights were so easy to aim, and the crack of the gun and the explosion of dirt on the backstop it made were so satisfying. Anybody else have any experience with a Yugoslavian SKS (M59/66)? If not, I highly reccomend it.

Malarkey-

Yep, guns are fun. The sks is an easy gun to shoot. It's 7.62x39, so the recoil is a lot less then a 7.62x51 (Think m60 or 240 or m14).

Ranger Badmuther,
Damn, I thought the M-14 and M-60 were both the same size as the SKS..Damn, is it even possible to shoot those accurately on full auto? (without a bipod)

Ps. Sorry for the post which I just now realized was somewhat pointless...But I was still kinda happy about it..heh...eh..

Yep, it's accurate to shoot those on full auto from the shoulder.....no real need to do so on the m14, but it can be done with the 60.....

Rangers shoot their heavy MG's from the bipod or tripod when they can, more accurate that way.

I did shoot 60's from the hip in Ranger School and in PLDC, but that's only cuz they were blanks. 8)

Ranger Badmuther,
Oh cool, guess I'm just small? Kick didn't seem hard but it pushed the gun up a good bit...

Full o' Malarkey (Point taken, by the way)

Uh, apparently not.

Do 4 sets of 25 pushups to get the blood to the brain flowing, and then tell me what caliber the m24 is, the AK-47, and the SAW.

Can I answer that without doing pushups? Unless I get them wrong of course.
