Introduction

Post by 2sqnsmock »

Hope this is the right place for post.
I am in 2 field airborne squadron, during my field gunners course i had a Capt. from the US who was a ranger.
He was a monster, learnt alot from him, and I was wondering if i could do the Ranger selection course.
Dont know if it'll help but my Q's are: Field Medic, Search, Pre Para, Ridgeback and a tour in Iraq.

Any info will help.

Sounds like a Brit.
You need to explain yourself a little better & read around this site a little more also.
"Ranger selection" is "RIP" - that is only for selection for US soldiers hoping to gain entrance into the 75th Ranger Regiment. Besides the selection process, it pretty much teaches the basic skills required to function in the Rangers where the soldier will recieve his 'real' training. NCOs & officers have their own selection course. Neither is open to allies unless (& I know nothing about this possibility) the Regiment has exchange postings with some comparable organization, such as your new 1 Para.
Ranger School is Army wide and allied NCOs & officers can attend. While successful completion of Ranger School is required for almost all leadership & staff slots in the 75th, the Ranger School doesn't have any actual connection to the Regiment, except as a further rite of passage. Your own chain of command is the avenue to approach to see if you can earn one of the rare slots that might go Britian's way. I don't personaly recall any Brits ever going in recent decades. Lots of Canadians though.
