Introduction

Post by Rattamahatta »

Hello Rangers; I'd like to thank you for everything you have done. I've found this site to be very beneficial as this forum has provided great information as I've poured through it the last few weeks.

My name is Sam, I'm a 21 year old college student entering my senior year this September to finish my Bachelors degree in computer science. I had my first MEPS visit only 3 days ago, Aug. 22nd (The hemorrhoid check was not expected.) I was given MOS 11x with option 40, and my ship date is June 10th, 2009.

I'm an amateur boxer and boxing coach. When my recruiter asked me what I wanted out of the Army three years ago, I told him I wanted to jump out of planes, shoot through as much ammo as possible, and stand with the best in the military. He gave me information on the Army Rangers, and ever since then I've been fascinated and obsessed with reading as much as possible about the Rangers. In several weeks I'm even going to get to workout with a Ranger on a weekly basis, which I can't wait for.

Rangers; I apologize in advance if the intro is a bit long.

One of the best intro's I have read in a long time.
Others will be along to assist you shortly. Look into requesting a mentor as well. Good luck.

Welcome, PM inbound.

When you feel weak, you feel like you wanna just give up

Sam, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. You certainly succeeded. Good PT scores, too. Looks like you are a go at this station. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take considerable pride in the number of fine young men we have assisted in their life journey. Please tell us more about yourself, where do you go to school? What is your Major? Why do you want to serve this great country?

Rangers, thank you for the welcome and mentor advice, it is not lost on me.

Ranger Jim, I attend school at St. Olaf in Northfield, Minnesota where I am a computer science major. I want to serve my country due to the intangible benefits, of which there is an extensive list. Most importantly, a sense of pride is at the top of this list. I also firmly believe that the freedoms we civilians enjoy were never definitively granted, and require the sacrifice of soldiers like the Rangers on this site to continue.

"Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" "Then I said, Here am I. Send me."

Rangers, if there is any more information you would like I will be happy to give it, and I would be honored to have a Ranger mentor from this site.
