New user introduction
Hello All,
My name is Kyle, I am an 18 year old high school graduate. I come from a military family, all Marines and Navy. I want to join the Army to be a Ranger. I have recently met with a recruiter but there are some questions I would prefer answered by Rangers. I am currently in dispute whether to enlist as infantry with the ranger option or as a combat medic with ranger option. I say the medic because right now I am a certified EMT and thought that it might be a good MOS for me. Well just wanted to post an introduction because that is what it says to do.
Thank you all,
Kyle

Who are you "in dispute" with? Yourself? If yes, then only you can and should decide what is best for you. If you enjoy the medic profession, then I would encourage you to use the search button and see what the consensus is on this site about our medics.kh628 wrote:Hello All,

I think you will find that we hold them in high regard as long as they meet the required standards.
If you want to be real special, be a medic. If you want to be special choose to be an FO, or RTO. We can't survive with out them.
Otherwise, choose the 11 series.

Welcome. Your desire to become an Army Ranger is appreciated. The easy way to decide between medic and infantry is to flip a coin. Another easy way is to let us decide for you. A harder way is to do some research on this site and make the decision that is best for you. Be certain to read and heed the ROE PM I ha sent you.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

Kyle, a man has only one opportunity to make a favorable initial impression. Yours is not too good right now. If you truly want to earn a place in the 75th Ranger Regiment, you came to the right site. We take great pride in the number of fine young men who have been assisted in successful preparation for service. Please self-administer a PT test and post your results in this thread. You should read all the FAQs and read selected stickies and threads. The search feature will assist you in reviewing information on becoming a medic or infantry. Both offer a challenge, but the final determination is yours. The DEPs will be along to enroll you. Never, never quit!

Thank you Rangers. I have been doing some searching and reading up on things. And yes by dispute I meant with myself because I cant decide which to chose. I added an avatar last night (the American flag) but couldn't find the section called "newts." Sorry for the ignorance but what is a FO and a RTO? Did a search and could seem to find what it mean. Army there any Ranger Medics around here that wouldnt mind PM with me because I have a few questions.
This post should have been your pt test scores.kh628 wrote:Thank you Rangers. I have been doing some searching and reading up on things. But that's alright, hopefully your the next post will be your scores.
FO = 13F, look it up.
RTO = Radio transmit operator, 25 series, lots of variations, look those up too.
If you have your NREMT certification, you'll get inserted to the last 8 weeks of the 68W course at Fort Sam, and then you'll go onto Airborne/RIP.

Hello again Rangers,
This coming Thursday I am going to MEPS. I am going to try to obtain 13f with opt40, if that's not available I am going to settle for the option4 because the recruiter and you all have said that at the end of BAC I can volunteer for Ranger School.
I've been doing the 2mile run with my recruiter and i am down to 14:27. I have to work on my push ups now because I can only do 38 in a row. My sit ups i haven't timed yet but when I time the sit ups and push ups I'll post them up.

DO NOT SIGN UNLESS YOU GET THE OPTION 40!!!!
Tell them to fuck off and walk away. They will find you one. You may have to wait, but GET WHAT YOU WANT!!!
Do not settle. If you start the trend of settling now, it will only continue.

38 pushups? :?
That's ok, but........
just remember you don't have to stop after only one minute.
Go ahead and utilize the full two minutes allotted to you...... :D
Seriously though,
make sure you keep PERFECT form with each pushup as only perfect pushups will ever be counted.
If not, someday you may hear one of your graders say something like:
seven...
