Handgun recommendation
Handgun recommendation
I'm about to purchase a handgun and I'm debating between a .40sw or 9mm. Either a beretta or a glock. I figured I'd ask you guys with experience. Thanks in advance all rangers, soldiers, or vets.

There are many fans of the trusty Glock, but I personally prefer the Springfield XD 40 (or .45acp for the extra ~$100), or my Walther P99.

The Sig 229 has issues with pins breaking, and once again, you failed to capitalize Ranger. DO PUSHUPS!!!NorTexJD wrote:Do any of you rangers/vets/soldiers have any experience with sig handguns? They have a 20 round 9mm that looks pretty good. Thanks in advance.

Other than the quality and your budget I think you should consider if it will be magazine fed and if so the capacity.
I have heard some say that knock down power is better than having more bullets and others say the exact opposite.
What do you want it for? Just for targets and protection or will the course of your work require that you have it and if so how often will you need it?
In the end the parameters are what you make them I think.

As I recall, you are going to enlist soon, so why the concern for a hand gun? Enlist, gain some experience with the weapns that Uncle Sam provides. Then, when the time comes, you will be able to make a much wiser decision, and in the mean time save some money that could be put to better use, like a gym membership, home exercise equipment and some good running shoes to help get you in shape.
