Pretty accurate single shot, not so much full auto because of the big ass bolt flopping around. Front ends pretty short, watch you fingers. My number one big gripe though is if you take the thing in the woods, the long magazine tends to poke you in the jimmy when you’re ducking and weaving. I like it for having in the truck when I was in the shit hole towns here but that’s about it.

It's got that long straight mag right, I don't care for that either. Too many sharp angles.
I'm told that the company rep said that they don't make suppressors for them, do you know if this is true? I'm thinking someone is trying to cut corners here moneywise.

Yep 30 round straight mag, Sloth said they had some problems with the mags and didn’t load over about 25, that and there is no way to conceal the thing with that long mag if that’s what you need to docams wrote:Horned Toad wrote:Pretty accurate single shot, not so much full auto because of the big ass bolt flopping around. Cams, I have used the UMP in .45 ACP pretty extensively. We were sent several to test out... but, the department eventually went with the MP5 / 40.
I have never used the UMP in the other calibers... but, the input is pretty spot on for the .45 as well. I did not care for the mags one bit... and for an H&K, I thought the trigger group could have used some work.
Not that it matters much, but that is my .02
Is your dept. looking for a new sub-gun? IMHO, the best sub-gun out there is the MP-5 chambered in 10mm.
That thing is a shooter!!!

Appreciate all the feedback fella's, right now we're using MP5's in 9mm, suppressed because of our tunnel work, they're old but still accurate as a motherfucker. You really can't miss with that and a HALO, sheeit, but our commander wants the UMP's, he saw another team with them and is pushing it.GSXRanger wrote:Cams, I have used the UMP in .45 ACP pretty extensively. Either way we still need new M-4's as well, for the penetration. Christ, I'm still using an M16A1 as part of my trunk kit.
I did some testing with different types of vehicle glass, set-up a target behind it to measure deflection off center and/or friendly casualties from complete deflection, fucking 9mm sucked, one time bounced back and hit my buddies boot from an inch of plexiglass.

I would love to keep the MP's and/or upgrade to a newer set, budget crunches I think are the deciding factor, until someone gets hit with an errant round then it's our fault for buying shitty equipment.

Due to the confined space we work in, it's extremely close-in work, with dozens of passengers all around you that can't get out of their own way, never mind yours.Ndog275 wrote:Why is you department still stuck on sub guns?
Sometimes it's better too just go in with sidearms for the operators and put two men on long cover on either side of the aisle as we move to contact.
But it works well, we adjust as we go.

Most police don't need M4's as a primary weapon.Ndog275 wrote:Why is you department still stuck on sub guns?

My department's team doesn't carry sub guns very much anymore. They mostly carry short barrel M4s for entry. Makes sense on a bus or subway car though. I was concerned that they had forsaken the rifle. Unfortunately there are still those administration nugs on every department that are still convinced the 5.56 round will over penetrate everything and then travel a few more miles
I did some simmunition work on a coach a while back when I was in the transit police unit. A bus is not a fun place to be in a gun fight. :)

What type of round are you using in the rifle? Hornady TAP, M855?Ndog275 wrote:My department's team doesn't carry sub guns very much anymore. They mostly carry short barrel M4s for entry.
