Introduction
Hello all Rangers, Veterans, and people involved with this site;
My name is Jason. I'm currently 21 living in Orlando, FL. I've been lurking this site for a little over a year now; starting lurking this site for PT information to help better myself and gradually found myself reading the site for the wealth of information.
I come from an Army family. My dad is a Lt. Colonel currently serving his second tour in Iraq with the Army Reserves. He spent 8 years active duty before switching to the reserves to help settle our family down. He originally was an armor officer but later reclassified to MP. When hes not working on that, he works as a civilian back in Tampa with the Sheriff's Office.
I'm a high school graduate graduating in 04 Magna Cum Lade. I have a year of community college under my belt towards an AA degree. I'm also a state of Florida certified Firefighter/EMT. Currently going back to college since the hiring process is typically long and competitive. I hope to finish up my AA and then pursue a BA in Criminology while I continue to test for fire departments.
I originally came to this site for the PT section thinking it will help me get my scores up for the fire academy, which they did greatly. After lurking I also found myself reading several sections including the medical section, Ranger school section, and the valuable threads on leadership. As my interest in Rangers grew, so did my consideration to pursue a commission through the local university's ROTC program. I contacted the Major that runs the program, and asked him questions about the program. Still considering it as I begin wondering if I was truly meant to be a FF/EMT. I have a few months to consider this decision. If i chose to go this route I'd be enrolling next semester into UCF's ROTC program.
My last Pt test:
Push up: 59
Sit ups: 83
Two Mile Run: 16:20
Obviously my two mile run is the weakest link. I am currently working on that by running at least 3 miles a day, and hoping this week to up that to 4 miles a day. As well as continuing my daily working which is getting me stronger.
I would like to end this will a very grateful and sincere thank you to all the Rangers and Veterans who served this country. Every citizen owes a great debt of gratitude for your service, and should buy you a beer if they see you.
With respect,
Jason

Welcome to the site Jason. Nice intro. You nailed it. Tell your Father next time you talk to him a Ranger says thank you for his service both on the military and LEO sides of the house.
It sounds like he raised a fine young son and sounds like he may have raised a Warrior as well.
Keep PT'ing and lurking, I am curious now as to what your decision may be. Sounds like you will do well with whatever you choose.

Welcome. You are wise to explore the options that you have, but what ever choice you make, be sure it is your choice, make it and let nothing stand in your way in achieving your goals.

Rangers,
I figure I'll make an update. I got accepted into a local paramedic program, and I'm gonna continue to my education. I've nearly finished my A.S. in EMS as well while going through continued classes towards a B.A.
Unfortunately, I recently broke my fibula in 3 places requiring 10 screws, and a solid metal plate. This has pushed my progress in PT behind, but I'm rehabbing. Not sure if this will ruin any possible chances down the road to pursue any military quite yet, but I'm setting small personal goals as we speak.
With that said, I'll go back to my lurking. Thank you for your service, God bless.
-Jason.

I missed your original intro, but it was solid and well put together. If you chooses th ROTC and O status, you sound like you eill do well.
Thank you for the congrats, and yes it will help. The job market down here is quickly dwindling do the fact that a specific amendment was passed cutting all fire, police, and public services for a measly little tax cut. So most departments are requiring a medic cert. before they'll look at you.
I'm still contemplating pursuing a commission. I've talked about it to my Father, and he supports either decision. I've contemplated several routes including ROTC and OCS.
But thanks for your reply, I'll return to my observing.
