SFC Hit_It?

Post by brad2007 »

Hello Rangers, Veterans, active duty military, and SFC Hit_It.

My recruiter has counseled me to lie when it is time to visit meps. Which to me isn't that bad of an idea, because my desire to serve (especialy in the 75th Regiment) outweigh being completly transparent with the doctors at meps. I know what I am capable of, and I know that given the chance I can earn my spot in the 75th Regiment.

Your advice SFC Hit_It, Rangers, and other qualified BTDT's would be greatly appriciated as I wrestle with this issue. Brad

Bad idea. The Regiment doesn't want a proven liar any more than anybody else does. You seem to be pretty sure about your ability to be a Ranger - have you read the creed yet? It says something in there about being "morally straight..."

Why would he want you to lie?

PM me if you don't want the info posted in the open.

Ranger JohnDowland was on point with his answer. I just want to know the surrounding circumstances.

Your recruiter won't be around to help you when what you lied about comes to light. One of the criteria that makes an honorable man is integrity. The system is set-up for a reason; so that unqualified people don't put themselves or their comrades at risk. I wish you good luck in obtaining the contract and hope you make the right descision.

Also, wanted to add. I was instructed to lie about my hernia. The first thing the doctor at MEPS asked me about was my scar from the hernia. Had I not divulged the information beforehand this would have been a major shitstorm coming. Don't cheat yourself!

Son, if you have something to hide, when they do a baqkground check on you, it will come out and you'll lose not only your slot but your honor and hopefully your pride as well.

Every person who is considered for a Ranger assigment must be subjected and pass a security background check. And there isn't a Ranger alive or who's passed away that would ever tell you to lie.

Thank you Rangers, and everyone else for the comments.

The biggest issue I wiil need a waiver for is mental health history. I explained this to SFC Hit It, and his response confirmed to me that my chances of even getting in to the army are very slim. I think my best bet is trying to get a physcologist to say that it was a misdiagnosis. Which would be very difficult, since it was over a decade ago.

The only reason I was even considering being less than truthful was because I feel a responsibility to serve. I think there is no greater way to show support, than to put "your money where your mouth is".

In retrospect I regret having asked this question. I hope you will look past my first question, and give me advice on a way to climb this mountain. Brad

You will refrain from dispensing advice some guy as it is not your domain. Ranger JohnDowland already is covering this subject. Until you bercome either a Ranger or Veteran, you will STFU.

There are many Ranger's and Veteran's that could add to this topic but haven't but you have. Do yourself a favor and STFU. Read, read, and read some more and search a whole lot to keep yourself busy.
