Introduction
My name is Eric, I am currently 18 years old. I am a freshman at NYU and a ROTC Cadet at Fordham University. I intend to contract as soon as I meet the physical standards required.
Upon starting school I did not really intend to enroll in the ROTC program. I contacted the Recruiting Officer requesting information and ended up getting oriented and enrolled that day. I’ve become very involved and enthusiastic with the ROTC program and have pledged Pershing Rifles.
My PT has made some vast improvements since I started the program. In September I was a marshmallow 5’4â€

Eric,
You have one chance to make a good impression...........
Sorry Jim, couldn't resist!
Welcome young man. Keep reading here. The more you do, it will become more clear what you should do.
I may be a tad biased, but I can think of no finer way to bring out the best in you than as a US Army Ranger. Good luck to you.

Welcome, Cadet. Manage your weight loss to a few pounds a month. Crash dieting will probably not work long term for you. I wish you success in meeting your goals.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

Thank you everyone for your replies.
Update: I scored 183 on my APFT today. I still failed the run with a 16:31, better than last month's 17:24 though.
I have two weeks to make 200 in order to be allowed to attend my P/R's FTX to become a member. If I shave 40 seconds off my run I should be good, two weeks seems like a squeeze though.

Guess what? If you want it bad enough, you will make it past the 200 mark.
I am seriously impressed with your introduction. You realize that you have a long ways to go, but I have a feeling that if you continue to stay focused and motivated, you will have zero problems hitting a 300 on the PT test within the next 12 months. By the time you start getting ready for graduation, you should be in killer shape, with a keen look at the Infantry.
Best of luck and welcome to ArmyRanger.com!

Good school, Fordham. It's prepared a number of very fine Ranger officers. If you want to achieve something, you are limited only by your willingness to pay the price. Please sit down and decide just what it is you want to achieve, then begin to plan how you hope to achieve it. Just take it one day at a time, and you will amaze yourself at how quickly things fall into place. Never explain, never complain; and never, never quit!

x2. Keep doing what you're doing. One caveat: Don't ever become complacent, keep pushing yourself in everything.Matador275 wrote:Guess what? If you want it bad enough, you will make it past the 200 mark.
