Introduction

Post by PurduePara203 »

Hello all, I just heard about the site through a friend and thought I'd check it out. I'm currently assigned to the 151st INF Det. (LRS) (ABN), 38th Infantry Division, Indiana National Guard as the sniper section assistant team leader. I just graduated from Ranger school on June 30th of this year (class 07-06). I went straight through, B Co. the whole time. Anyhow, I look forward to posting on here and meeting all you guys, RLTW!

We've got direct lineage with company D. In Vietnam the unit was called Company D (Ranger) 151st Infantry. They fell under the II Field Force and were in country from December 1968 through November 1969. After Vietnam the unit was disbanded but was reborn as the 151st LRS-D. So we're the same unit, just different designation.

I thought they had a very impressive legacy, but had to look it up:

Indiana Rangers were decorated 538 times in Vietnam. 19 Silver Stars, 1 Soldiers Medal, 123 Bronze Stars (88 with "V" device for valor), 101 Purple Hearts,111 Air Medals and 183 Army Commendation Medals (29 with "V" device for valor) were awarded for valor and achievement. No other single Army Infantry company was as decorated during a one-year period of time as the Indiana Rangers.
