Introduction

Post by unformed »

Hello Rangers,

My name is Milan. I am 24 and from Melbourne, Florida. I graduated from Florida Tech a few years ago with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics. Since then, I have spent my time working as a programmer. During this time, I had contemplated joining the military, although the idea had only been floated around, and until recently, not seriously acted upon.

While I initially did not know which job I would be interested in, I have known, for a long while, that I would only be interested in the elite forces and pushing myself to my mental, physical, and psychological limits. Three weeks ago I spoke to a recruiter, who is a Ranger himself, and, after a few hours of having some questions answered and just talking to him, I learned a little bit more about the Rangers. Since then, I have found this site and a few other sites through Google, and I have spent countless hours reading everything about the recruitment process, training process, and answers to a whole slew of other questions that had never even crossed my mind. All of this has further reinforced that my only desire is to be an Airborne Ranger.

Information on myself:
  • Contract (not signed yet): 11X with Option 40
  • ASVAB AFQT: 98
  • Body: 5’10â€

Undead,

There are multiple reasons why I do not wish to go in as an officer. First and foremost, I want the physical and mental challenges provided by RIP and Ranger School. I do understand that I could go through ROP. However, for what I have read, it is much more difficult to enter ROP without any enlisted experience. Furthermore, and more importantly, I believe that in order to be a better leader, I would need to truly understand what those that I am leading are going through. As I could not understand these things without being an enlisted Ranger first, that will be my path.

I am, however, keeping the idea of becoming an officer in the future. For the time being, however, my only goal is to become a Ranger.

Ranger Abell9, my comment was in response to this portion of his intro:
I graduated from Florida Tech a few years ago with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics.
Not his ASVAB score

But just in case, I'm doing 20 push ups, and 20 more for responding :D
