"New" Springfield Armory cal .45 14 round mag

Post by agonyea »

You Will Be Shocked!
From the moment you pick it up you won't believe it's a 45 ACP, much less one that holds 14 rounds. Of course a polymer pistol of any caliber that feels this good in your hand could only be one thing: an XD.

This time our engineers have outdone themselves, defying the laws of physics, adding material where needed, shaving it away where it's not ... cramming 14 rounds of 45 ACP punch into a polymer frame that is not perceptibly larger than the one we use for our 9mm and 40 cal. XDs.

Finally, it's here ... a 45 ACP XD that is true to the spirit of what the XD is all about ... an ergonomic wonder that is not just a gun that shoots, but a gun designed for YOU to shoot.

Looks nice, but my big monkey hands love the larger grip of my ParaOrd P.14.45 LDA. One thing's for sure, though: nothing beats 14+1 rounds of .45!

I have the XD-9 and I love it - been looking at the 45 for awhile now. I was used to shooting the Glock 17 prior, and this pistol was a very comfortable switch for me.

Anyone up ~ Fort Bragg, Jim's on Yadkin has these available to rent on their indoor range. $9/rental, $6/lane, and then I think you have to buy some of their ammo. I compared my buddy's AMT Hardballer .45 - which is the 5" 1911 frame (which I CANNOT stand btw) to the XD-45ACP and it was a no brainer. Truth be told it wasn't even a fair comparison...

Either way - if you haven't fired one of SA's XDs, I'd recommend it. If nothing else, it's an opportunity to put a few more rounds downrange and not have to clean up after yourself.

I think the XD line was engineered by American engineers but made from foreign parts, at least that is what I think. I noticed the crotia engraving on mine recently and was surprised as well.

how does it compare in size to the tried and true G-21?

I liked the "croation sensation" especially when it cost 300 bucks, before springfield started stamping their name and charging 300 bucks more.

 You actually ask your 6? Interesting. 2 years ago I pulled out every gun I own and was cleaning some, fondling others and she came in and said..."whose are all those"? After learning the truth she said, when did you buy them? 8) EXACTLY!

Well I made her a deal when I bought my DPMS .308 SASS that I wouldn't buy any more. (it was around $2000). But ALL us gun owners know how that goes. I don't want to sell my .40, I would rather just pick up the .45, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do when you are married. [/img]
