National Guard Grunt
Hello Rangers.
My name is SSG Garcia, I am not a Ranger.
Currently I am a light infantry squad leader in the Oregon Army National Guard, B Company, 1st Battalion, 186th Infantry in Medford Oregon. We recently finished a training rotation to Japan.
My awards include CIB(2), EIB, ABN, AASLT.
I first joined the Army in 1987 and I graduated from C2-2 in Harmony Church. My active duty assignments included HHC 6-6th IN (Scouts), B/3-50nd IN (desert shield/storm). Then I got the heck out -completley- for 6 years. But I missed the Army, so I joined the National Guard in 1999. I've done airport security after 9/11, and deployed to OIF 1 in 2003-2004.
I've seen the guard transition from what it was when I was on active duty to what it is today, and how it seems to be going back to the 1970's guard now with the loss of the active duty Training Support Battalions. AAR's are more political than they are honest forthright assesments. But I am keeping the faith, 'cause I can still do it.
I've done some work with a company from Moyock. And I hope to do it again sometime. PM me on that.

Thanks
Thanks for the welcomes Gents.
Anyone know an RI by the name of Goin? He was my first team leader in the Army. He wound up being my team leader in a scout platoon in a Mechanized Inf. Bn. after PCS's from some MI unit he was in (Ft. Stewart?) after he was sent down the road from the Battalion at Hunter AAF.. I can't remember why he was sent away from the Batt, but I would bet he wasn't to blame.
Anyhow, back in the day I would run circles (literally) around my NCO's on PT tests - until he came along. That man could run for a week. On one of our days off we went for a 'fun' run, after a few hours, I was walking my ass back as he trotted over the next hill. And I could run!
He PCS'd from Germany in '89 to be an RI at Ft. Benning. Always wondered what happend to him. Solid dude.
