Hello, my name is Austin and I am 21 years old. The last 90 days or so some major changes in my life situation have caused me to revisit my dream of eventually becoming an Airborne Ranger.

I originally started the process of enlisting in the Army before I turned 18 but relocated across the country before the actual paperwork was signed. I let a family member talk me out of the Military and tried to establish the civilian version of a career over the next few years.

Four years after the fact I look at not enlisting as one of the worst decisions I've made. September 11th of the last two years I get a twinge in my stomach knowing I had the ability at one point to fight for my country and its citizens.

Background and what I know so far:

*ASVAB overall score of 97 when I originally tested. I assume this score isn't valid anymore and I am looking forward to a retest with a chance to study.
*I have read everything I can get my hands on that relates to BASIC/OSUT/AIT/Airborne Training/RIP/Ranger School. This forum has been an amazing resource providing information impossible to find anywhere else.
*I am currently working on completing required course study to complete my High school Diploma, despite my recruiters recommendation to "Just get my GED"

I want to thank all of you for the excellent information that is provided in this forum. I hope I can continue to use this forum as a resource as I work toward becoming who I want to be, an Airborne Ranger.

Welcome to the board.

The best thing ya got going for ya right now is the determination to get yer High School Diploma instead of settling for the GED. You're on the right track.

Now, don't get in no damn hurry. Ya had to wait 18 years to join then ya fucked off a couple of more. Take yer time and get what ya want. Good luck.
