Greetings to everyone

Post by Madrat »

I just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone on the site and especially the Rangers. I've always had the greatest respect for the Rangers and in return they've always shown respect towards me. I'm a US Army veteran and I served as an RDF Military Policeman with the 978th MP Co at Ft. Bliss, Tx from 1984 to 1987. I did a brief combat tour in Central America while attached to Joint Task Force Bravo with the 5th SF Group in late 1984. I look forward to being a member of the site and hope I can be a contribution to the site as opposed to dead weight. Hooah.

So, Madrat - were you in many other locations than Tegucigalpa at the time?

How is it you worked with 5th Group there when 7th Group had that area as it's area of focus/responsibility?

Welcome to the site.

Happy to respond, Spartan. Yes, I was in several other areas while there. I'm not sure how much of this is still classified, if any, but I'm among friends  . We were actually based at Palmerola Air Field which is near Comayagua. We ran patrols throughout the area. The SF were short of ground pounders so they sort of adopted a squad of MP's of which I was fortunate enough to be a part. We initially landed at Tegucigalpa, though. We did a lot of recon work in and around El Tigre. We ran one SAD mission near La Paz and also secured and recovered a UH1-D that developed in flight mechanical problems near La Ceiba off the Carribean. I also spent a week on top of a mountain OP we referred to as hilltop. As far as 5th or 7th, I'm not going to swear to it because it was 20 yrs ago and I was pretty green in the army then. I was pretty sure that the flash was 5th though. I hope this covers it as I don't expect you to ignore a claim like mine without challenging me occassionally. 8)
