Need help solving a Flag problem

Post by dbap »

I was taking my fiancée to work today and when we were stopped at a stoplight I saw that the corner Tesoro's US flag was all forms of fucked up. It was hanging by only the bottom eyelet and looked to be in bad shape.

After I dropped her off I headed back so I could talk to the clerk and get it either reconnected or bring it down so they could have it properly burned.

I went in and asked if he knew that there flag was messed up and he told me yes they were aware. I offered my help to take it down and he said that they couldn't touch it and it was the responsibility of the "vender" which I took as the owners of the gas station. He said that he had called someone to come and fix it and I asked if he had any idea when it would be and he replied that he had no clue.

The question is what can I do to get this resolved? If they don't have it fixed by tonight or tomorrow is there anything I can do to get them to fix it? This is a federal crime isn't it? Can a police officer help?

It is the store owners responsibility to replace the flag. You do not have a legal right to take his flag down reguardless of the condition of it. If you want just buy a flag and donate it to them.

Here is what you do. Get a hold of your local VFW, DAV and American Legion. Tell them the deal. They will go out there and get it squared away.

Don't bother the COPS with that though.
It's all good.
