I have used the search button but have not found the answer to my question, which is:
As I understand, separate from the vision test in the medical part of MEPS, the Army assesses your prescription upon arrival of Basic Training. For me, my vision is very poor, -8.25 in one eye and -7.5 in the other I believe, (correctable to 20/20, though). I've been told by recruiters that -8 is the limit for SF (I have an option 40 and option 70). I haven't been told anything about the limit for Rangers. Anyway, during MEPS I was squinting in the eye machine so that I could get a better "score" on my eyesight since I was afraid of being disqualified. I don't want to squint when I get my glasses in Basic, though, because then I won't be able to see clearly... so my prescription will be worse than -8. Will they disqualify me then? Or have I already qualified and that's the end of it?

I you already have an option 40, then youmet the requirements for the Ranger Regiment. The counselors knew this when they gave you the contract.
The key is keeping that up when you get to reception, so whatever you did the first time you better do again.
Could not tell about the diopters required for SFAS or an 18X contract. I would assume that if you did not require a medical waiver to get the contract you got, then you should have been qualified for 18X as well.
Things could have changed since I left recruiting duty.

Re: eyesight question
You are beginning to annoy me. At least three times, in various forums, I have told you that you can wear corrective lenses and attend airborne and Ranger training. What part of "you can wear glasses" does your college educated brain not understand?fattuesdays wrote:I have used the search button but have not found the answer to my question, which is:
