Ranger grand-daughter

Post by TLbug »

Didn't know where to put this, as I am related to a Ranger, but not a Ranger wife or parent.

I'm 27.

My grandfather was a WWII Ranger, Company A, 5th Ranger Bn. He was at Omaha Beach. Survived D-Day and was shot in the head three days later by a German sniper while rushing a machine gun nest with two-three other guys. Miraculously, he made it, or I wouldn't be here!

I've always been a history buff and even from a young age realized what an extraordinary individual my grandpa was. I get pretty, you know, choked up and stuff when I think about what he did, and I'm just here because I'm very proud of him and admire all Rangers.

Probably won't post anymore, but I just wanted to let someone know how much I appreciate all Rangers, and especially the ones like my grandfather, who were there that June day. Damn good thing they were.

Thanks, Rangers.

Your Grandfather is a hero. Those Rangers forged the way for today's warriors. Thank you for the sacrifices your family has made, and welcome to the site.
