I just finished ground week here at Airborne School and I'm excited as hell about tower week and jump week. The PT test was easy for me but I was nervous as hell before I started because about half the guys in my line failed the pushups before it was my turn. I got up there and made sure I had my head up with my chest hitting the board on each one and was told to stop after 42. Just goes to show that you shouldn't doubt youself because someone else fails. The runs this week were easy. The pace is slow and the hardest part is not running up the guy's ass in front of you when we start to slinkey.
The biggest suprise is that we go to heat cat. 5 at all. I thought that was something that stopped after Sand Hill. When its heat cat. 5 we don't even do the airborne shuffle to and from the training area, we just march. I'm still PTing on my own and sticking with the other Rippies from my OSUT company. We all just roll our eyes at all the rumors going around about RIP and stay focused on the objective. Thanks for all they help and support. If i keep my feet and knees together I should be Airborne in two weeks.

Airborne School has always been the "Trouble Spot" for young men moving onto RIP. The reason it is bad is because it gives a trainee a false sense of security and then the transition to RIP is almost too much too overcome.
Everyone is gonna' tell you to PT on your own and stay motivated. All I'm gonna say is...Consider Airborne school the "Eye of a Hurricane", you feel studly, safe and motivated...The worst is ahead of you!

Don't say if! You know what you have to do, just do it! Drive on, young man.Shallow Grave wrote:If i keep my feet and knees together I should be Airborne in two weeks.

That was the best desription I've ever heard. Eye of the hurricane. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I hit Airborne school. Evenings and weekends off to do whatever I wanted. Then I graduate and this truck pulls up. The devil himself stepped out wearing a black beret. I knew at that point my life had just come to an end...Silverback wrote:Airborne School has always been the "Trouble Spot" for young men moving onto RIP. But it's all about how bad you want it. I simply chose not to quit. You need to decide the same thing.
