Cadet Just through BAC

Post by DRFred »

I am a Cadet just like the title says and just finished up BAC last week. The course was very interesting since it was my first real interaction with the Army. I grew up as a Military Bart and saw from the outside what the military is kinda like, but i was both amazed and disappointed. Disappoint in my fellow cadets and the privates. The privates think they are hard as shit being fresh out of basic, while the cadets think they are officers already. I can understand why cadets are hated so much having to be around others like me unfortunately, i did my best not to be one of them. The Black Hats were interesting charactors. They had a wealth of information that they were glad to share and they were always ready for a laugh. I was told how much down time that there was during the day but i was surprised on how much of it was wasted. The joke of hurry up and wait is for sure true. We were able to do all the jumps basically on time and only had few get injuried. Our class started with 404 and ended with 302, the PT test alone dropped about 80 students. I really dont think the course was that hard for people to quite, it just shows how weak some people are. But I am glad I went as a Cadidoit.

Sorry and Thanks to all you that have had to deal with immature Cadets in these training environments.

First congrats on Jump School.

Second, I would focus more on yourself and Graduating and doing what you need to do to succeed and stop worrying about other cadets ad Privates just out of Basic. I am sure that the majority of them don't think they are hard they are just highly motivated SOLDIERS. Yes they are soldiers. You seem to be coming acroos like you are all hardand what not because you grew up as a Brat and "have seen the other side".

Third, be proud of what you are. you made a few hnts in your post that you are ashamed to be a cadet. Why? You chose to be a cadet, why sit there and call yourself a cadidiot and what not? One of the things you need to learn in life is that everyone is different and people all react different ways to attitudes and body language and what not. Case in point these privates are you sure they just are notmotivated? These "other Cadets" are they going around giving peopleorders? I doubt it, because if they were I am sure any NCO around the area would put them in thier place. Again, my point is you perceive thier actions and attitudes a certain way. That doesn't make it right or wrong, it is just the way YOU see it. Open your mind man.

Fourth, overall that was a good sitrep and I hope you succeed in all your future endeavors. I hope you take my post for what it is worth and not take offense to it but learn from it. Again, good luck in your future endeavors.
It's all good.

Congrats on two fronts. One for completing the course and the other for the insight you have garnered.

Glad to hear that you earned a pair of wings. It's also refreshing to see that you noted the false bravados and personalities. You're a step ahead of the other Cadets. True leaders earn the respect of their troops by leading by example....they don't 'demand' respect, because of a cheap metal bar on their shoulder. Kudos. Keep up the good work.
