SITREP: Planned Panic

Post by Earthpig »

I received a letter from Planned Panic today. Here's what he had to say:

Ranger EarthPig,

Well, we just started Week Seven. We had an eight-mile roadmarch on Saturday. Me and a couple people packed some extra weight in our rucks (my ruck weighs about 50-55 lbs and I'm going to add more every roadmarch). We have a ten-mile roadmarch out to the Night Infiltration Course on Thursday and a two-day bivouac.

We just had out third APFT today and I dropped two pushups and 1 situp, but my run time is getting better. I dropped about 20 seconds off my 2-mile time. I'm not sure if I should keep smoking myself or stop for a week and let my muscles recover. Deadbolt and I are trying to figure out what we should do, since it is Week 7 now and my pushups have not increased yet.

But, even though my PT score dropped from a 235 to a 212, I'm still staying motivated and keeping Deadbolt and Jester motivated, as well.

Planned Panic, are you lifting weights in the evening? Try working on some chest exercise, like bench press. You don't need to be 'smoking' yourself, but you need to build up your muscles and improve those pushups. Are you eating enough calories? Are you drinking lots of water? All these things can improve your performance. Stay motivated and it will happen. Give my regards to Jester, Deadbolt, and SledgeHammer. Keep up the good work.

Back in the day, I would do a lot of push ups in my spare time until I would have sore muscles the next day, then stretch out and have an off day, and alternate that routine. Helped me, maybe it would work for you?
At any rate Good Luck and when you're doing those push ups keep your back straight and head up or you're just cheating yourself!
