If you frequent gun web sites you know how strange a lot of the people are. You hear so many rumors and complete bull shit that he you find it hard to believe anything. One of the worst is the elaborate ways to clean your weapon after firing corrosive ammunition. Most will tell you to use Windex . I have even been told to use cat urine. :? Some people even use soap and hot water which will work. I even called Hoppes one time and was told that Hoppes #9 was formulated to clean corrosive primer residues. I have often wondered why Break Free CLP wouldn't work and it looks like it too was formulated to do that and passed the military test. http://www.pcmedics.net/shooters/break_free.htm
7. Primer Salts Removal.......No Corrosion
Hoe does all of this bull shit get started ? Let me guess. Some lazy bastard shot 500 rounds of Russian made ammunition that had corrosive primers and ran one patch down his barrel with some gun oil on it and a week later his gun was corroded. The next time he tried Windex. He then had to use Hoppes#9 and Break Freee to get the Windex off and while he was at he gave it a good cleaning. As if by magic the gun did not corrode, so Windex is the ticket. I'll guess that cleaning your weapon very good is a lot more imporant in preventing corrosion than what you use.

Psalm 144:1 A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
Very true. I shoot corosive ammo all the time. A lot of good plinking ammo in 8mm and 7.62X54R is corrosive (and cheap!). As long as you clean it very thoroughly, you will be fine. I soak my weapon in Hoppes, but that's just because I always soak my weapons in hoppes. Its great stuff.
