Question for the Rangers

Post by JSanta »

I was wondering if any of the Rangers on this board were ever approached to try-out for Special Forces. I was told that many SF soldiers were once Rangers. I was also wondering if a Ranger must go through SFAS even after they have done RIP.
Thank you ahead of time.

You usually request SF. SF doesn't request you.

Many SF are prior Rangers. Many SF have gone to RS also.

Rangers don't do SFAS.

In hopes that I don't step on any toes, I would like to clarify one point. Ranger Bell stated that 'Rangers don't do SFAS', not meaning that they can skip it; but meaning it's not required for Ranger-ing. If you are a Ranger and want to go SF, you must complete SFAS.

Thanks Ranger Saltbitch. I should have clarified that statement.

Rangers don't do SFAS. Anyone going to SF does SFAS. But then, he'd be doing SF and wouldn't be a Ranger anymore? hahahahaha

Good point!
I do know of a couple of individuals who went to SFAS, didn't get selected, and WISHED like hell they didn't have to come back to the ass-smokin' they received back at BN.

SFAS was different in that you nevr got praised or punished. Not Ranger School were you get motivated or the get shit smoked out of you. It's just you, a ruck, a compass and Camp Mackall. Not harder, just different. Like working in a vacum.
