Introduction
Hello, Everyone
My name is Nathan M. I’m a 15-year-old (10th grade) student attending Thomas Worthington High School in Columbus Ohio. After high school I plan to enroll in the US Army and make it through Ranger training. Recently I went to talk to my Councilor at school and found out that her son had just completed Ranger Training and had earned his tab. I went in and talked to him during my Lunch Study hall, about 25 minutes and found out that it was not enough time to try to learn everything I wanted to. After looking on the web, I stumbled across this site, witch was exactly what I was looking for, Real Rangers who had earned there tabs. (I talked to several recruiters, they tried to tell me what it was like, etc… but how can you do that when you were a chef or bridge builder in the army).
1st- I was born in Slovakia and lived there for about 3 years, then my family moved over to the U S of A and I have been her ever since. I read the FAQs and it said to join the army you had to have a permanent resident holder card. Is this the same thing as a Green Card??
2nd- To prepare for my enrollment in the US Army, should I start running and conditioning now? I work out about 3-4 times a week for the entire school year, and I do some conditioning/strength training/speed building with my trainer. Currently I weigh 160 lbs, Bench (Max) 180 lbs, Squat (Max) 285, I haven’t been able to max out on pushups/sit ups/dips because I tore my pectoral muscle. Is this what I should be doing, more or less? I also play Airsoft, (milism type game, kind of like paintball) I have a R.A.C.K system, should I load weights into it and start conditioning with that. Running 5 miles, marches, etc.
Thank you very much Rangers,
Nathan M

Welcome Nate. Just to be clear, there are many Rangers here that never went to Ranger school and got their Tab.... but they are Real Rangers. Enjoy the site.

Nate:
My advise would be to work on becoming a US Citizen if you are not already, as that is what you need to be to get a Ranger contract. This is a later stumbling block for many who wish to try as it is necessary to have a security clearance to do so and you cannot get that without being a US Citizen first.
Good luck.

Thank you Rangers,
Ranger Spartan, so in order to get a ranger contract at all I have to be a legal US citizen, I cannot just hold a Greenhard or permenent Resident Card? After 911 all of the paperwork to get a US citizenship or a Greencard has become prolonged. It will take me about 2-4 years to get my greencard, and another 2-6 years for US citienship. By then I would be in my early 30 thirties :(. Are you for sure Ranger Spartan that you need a US citizen ship to get a Ranger Contract?
Thanks Alot
Nate

Re: Introduction
I'm not a REAl Ranger (but I did play one on TV).....so without further adieu....NateTheGreat wrote:I stumbled across this site, witch was exactly what I was looking for, Real Rangers who had earned there tabs. Don't talk shit about chefs or bridge builders, or any other member of the armed forces around here you fucking foreigner. I understand what you were trying to say; believe me, we deal with it a lot. People who aren't Rangers always seem to think they know what we do/did. It's usually innaccurate and outdated at best. But a condescending teenager is NEVER appreciated in these parts.
