Introduction

Post by Erock »

Hey guys. I have lurked on this site for a while now. The information provided here has been a valuable resource in getting no B.S. answers to questions that that I may have, and I thank you for it (mods and users). You, and others (enlisted and retired personnel) that I have meet person to person, have provided a bit of a reality check to what is possible, and the steps I should follow in obtaining a Ranger Contract. Thanks again.

That being said, as of yesterday (September 24, 2004), I went to MEPS, took my physical (111111), did what seemed to be a preliminary airborne physical (went over some questions with a doctor, closed my mouth and covered my nose as I filed my mouth with air as a doctor checked my ears, etc.) and signed my DEP papers as an 11x, with option 40. The contract is for 52 months, with 17 weeks at Ft. Benning at one station training, followed by 3 weeks at Ft. Benning for Airborne School. From there, my first unit of assignment is Ranger Training. My journey begins May 11, 2005.

OK, now here is my profile. I am a male, 23, 5’8â€
I have all the characteristics of a human being: blood, flesh, skin, hair; but not a single, clear, identifiable emotion, except for greed and disgust. Something horrible is happening inside of me and I don't know why. My nightly bloodlust has overflown into my days. I feel lethal, on the verge of frenzy. I think my mask of sanity is about to slip.

Welcome to the site. When you are in the Army and someone asks you a question, if the answer can be yes/no, stick with that and you will go far.

Welcome

Your score 111111 a letter is assigned to each one P U L S E S. Each one designates a different part of your being. All Ones is optimal. I think the letter 'A' follows all those One's. I think my numbers have interest (%) added to them, 111 15 14 15 Z.

That OCS deal you can forget about. You have to renlist for that shit. Why would you only want to spend a year in a Battalion? They won't give you Ranger school if you plan on leaving that quick. Most likely the you won' t go to Ranger school for at least 8 months after you assigned to a Batt. First you have to complete Pre-Ranger which is 3 weeks then Ranger school which is 3 months so that would leave you with 1 week left in a Batt, I don't think so. If you make it to a Batt, Ranger school will be pretty much the only school that you will get for just a 4 year enlistment considering the operations tempo of the Battalions. Also privates and Spec 4's don't get pathfinder or what ever that other school was, RSLC. If you are talking about LRSLC (Long Ranger Survielance Leaders Course) forget it, especially in Batt unless mabye you are an NCO. How about you set your goals small like.....passing RIP.

Thanks for the quick replys

Thank you for such a quick response guys. H8, I liked yours in particular. The recruiters and people at MEPS fill your head will all kinds of ideas, but someone with your experience can help provide a bit of reality. And yes, passing RIP is and should be my main focus.

You went from somewhat smart to completely stupid in an amazing two strokes of the keyboard. I thought you were paying attention... Mother fucker it's Ranger H8 train. Roger? Anything other than that will no doubt mean your disembowelment by myself.

My mistake, and my apologise. First to Ranger H8 Train for not showing the proper respect he deserves and also to Ranger Disinfertention. I obviously have a lot to learn. Thank you for the correction.

Although you're catching some light-hearted heat for your lengthy intro, I would personally rather see one like yours than the typical, "Hi, I'm Keith...I'm 18 and I just signed up to be a Ranger. You guys are so cool."

However, if it can be construed as chest-beating, it won't do you much good here.

It sounds like you have gone to great lengths to prepare yourself for your journey. I urge you to stay focused on your objective. Thanks in advance for serving and welcome to the site. Good luck to you.
