My name is Joel, and I am 17 years old. I am a junior in high school right now, but i have been meeting with my recruiter to discuss the 14 month senior program. I took the ASVAB when i was 16 and scored a 97.When the recruiter told me I couldn't enlist on an ASVAB score from when i was 16 I went to MEPS and retested--I made a 97 again. My GT was a 127 the second time.
My stepdad is active duty army national guard, he has been giving me PT tests monthly for the past six months and helping me improve my scores. As of 4/18/16 my scores were:
Push ups: 81 (I followed Ranger Silverback's push up improvement plan to increase my count.)
Sit ups: 87 (I used the same theory for sit ups that Ranger Silverback's push up plan follows.)
2 mile run: 13:05 (I ran a lot to get better at running...

I want to be a Ranger because there is evil in the world and i believe becoming a Ranger will enable me to combat that evil. I want the brotherhood that comes with being a Ranger. I want to look back on my life and know I did something worthwhile and meaningful.
As of today the biggest obstacle in my way of becoming an army ranger is my dad (biological dad) and stepmom. Neither having ever served their country knows an option in life other than college and a "real" job. My stepdad and biological mom are very supportive of the idea. I have come to the conclusion that I will enlist either way, it would be nice to know I had my dad's support though.
I'm looking forward to being a member on the site and learning a lot more about Rangers. Thank you, Rangers for allowing me to become a part of your community. Thank you, to all who have served our great country!
