Hello Rangers,
My name is Monty, I’m 17 years old and I’m currently in the DEP. I swore in as an 11x and I ship off to Fort Benning June 27th. So a little about me. I had interest in the 75th Regiment since I was 5 years old. Ever since I saw the movie Black Hawk Down I wanted to be in the Regiment. So two weeks into Senior year of Highschool I joined the army. It came to no surprise to my parents as they known I wanted to serve my country since I was little and they fully support my choice. But I live in Southern California which is incredible liberal and everyone in my school are all feeling the Bern. Lets just say that the vast majority sees our soldiers as baby killers and the military as a last resort. They try to discourage me to not join but they don't understand. I'm not joining the military for the pay or for the benefits. I'm joining because I believe this country is the greatest country on Earth and I want to be on the front lines defending it. I actually found your site from one of your members, he direct messaged me on Instagram and said I should sign up because it's a gold mine of information.
I took a pt test today and here are my results
Push ups- 54
Sit ups- 60
2 Mile- 15:45
Pullups- 8
209/300
I leave in 81 days so I better start kicking it into high gear. I know I have a lot to work on and I look forward from learning from all the Rangers here. Thank you for your time and thank you for your service.

Re: Introduction-Monty
Thank you Rangers.
Ranger Jim, I want to be a Ranger because I want to be part of a brotherhood where I know for sure that I can count on the men to my left and right. Being part of a motivated team where everyone is pushing each other to be better. And one of my favorite quotes “One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure it's worth watching”. When I'm old about to passed I want to look back on my life and regret nothing.
And to answer your second question Ranger Jim. I tried to get a option 40 when I went to meps, but it ended up I had a cold and the doctor said that we couldn't do the airborne physical. Then we got to the signing papers. I refused the sign at first because I wanted option 40. Then he explained that if I don't sign today I won't ever be able to join the army because the army isn't looking for people who “don’t commit.” (I know now that he was lying). So I gave in because I thought I wouldn't be able to join the army if I walked away. I don't blame the recruiter to lying to my face I blame myself for lack of research prior going to meps. So my next step to become a Ranger is that I need to obtain a option 40 during Osut.
