Introduction: Austin

Post by DEPaustin »

Hello, My name is Austin, I'm 19 years old, and I'm finishing this semester of college at New Mexico Military Institute before I a ship out for basic on January 26th. I enlisted last week in the Army with an 11X option 40 contract.

My original plan was to attend New Mexico Military Institute as a West Point prep, but once I started talking to infantry NCOs and Officers I quickly realized that's exactly what I wanted to do! I learned more about the Airborne Rangers, while competing on the Ranger Challenge team (ROTC competition). I read about the missions they have done and are doing, and I felt that's exactly what I want to be doing. I've always felt a deep sense to serve my country, and there's nothing I'd rather be doing than serving as an Army Ranger.

My PT scored are the following..

Push-ups: 80
Sit-ups: 65
Pull-ups: 23
2 mile run: 13:15 mins
5 mile run: 35 mins

Ranger Jim Thanks!

Our Ranger Challenge team went to Fort Bliss to compete with other teams, and during the competition I heard some of the cadets talking about some of the missions that Rangers were do. I was so interested and amazed at what these guys did and who they are. I want to be one the best trained soldiers the United States of America has to offer. There is a very small percentage of people who are trained to be the most lethal fighters. I want to be one of the few who can push themselves past there limits every day, and who love to do so. I want to become this person, so that I can protect the weak, and I can defend my country from the assholes who want to harm; my family, my friends, my neighbors, and my fellow citizens. My top priority is to become an Army Ranger, and I will do whatever it takes to get there!
