Intro-redbear
Hello Rangers,
My name is Eric and I am from New Jersey but go to school out of state. I am 22 and will be graduating from college this upcoming May.
I was always interested in joining the military since I was a little kid. I am a second-generation American, born to immigrant parents. My father served for his country of origin as a Marine rifleman. He has heavily influenced me and I would like to follow in his footsteps by serving my country. I have considered rotc and the ocs route, but ultimately decided that I would like to enlist.
I am currently pursuing an option 40 in either the 11x or 13f MOS. I have not ruled out 68w, but will do more research on that MOS to see if it is for me. I recently talked to a recruiter and he says he will work with me to get an option 40. I will be meeting him again soon to do documents and set a MEPS appointment.
My current self-administered PT-
pushups: 67
situps: 60
2-mile: 14:30
I realize my PT scores are lacking. I have looked at the PT threads and will be using Ranger Silverback's programs. I am confident that I can raise my physical performance significantly through a dedicated program. I look forward to being a member on this site.

Re: Intro-redbear
Rangers,
I completed my ASVAB recently and now in the process of picking my MOS with my recruiter. I have looked more into 68W and realize that is the job I want to do. However, my recruiter is telling me option 40's are not being offered with 68W anymore due to the lengthy AIT and attrition rates. From what I have gathered on this site, this information does not seem right unless this is a recent thing that has been implemented. I just wanted to see if any Rangers or recruiters on this site had any insight on the current situation of option 40 availability particularly with the 68W MOS before I send out an email to the regiment recruiters to confirm this.

Re: Intro-redbear
The link I sent you gives the phone # of Regimental Recruiting. Call and ask if 68W option 40 slots are available. If not, you can pursue earning a space at BCT/AIT. I suspect training slots are available. Read more on the letters from school thread. Never, never quit!
