Washington's Spies and Roger's Rangers
Last night was the Pilot for AMC's new Revolutionary War series, TURN (based on the book "Washington's Spies" by Alexander Rose). It centers around the First ever American spies, but what I found interesting is the major threat to the spy ring (no pun intended). Major Robert Rogers leads his merry band of misfits into clashes against the Colonials, apparently for profit. I found the show interesting, although it's getting hammered by critics, and I'll probably continue to tune in. I was surprised by the producers casting choice of Rogers but found the subject matter entertaining nonetheless.
Go Tell the Spartans, stranger passing by, that here obedient to their laws we lie.

Interestingly enough, Robert Rogers captured Nathan Hale. Hale was an officer in Knowlton's Rangers (Knowlton had been with Rogers Rangers in the French & Indian War). What did you think of the show?Worldweaver wrote:Last night was the Pilot for AMC's new Revolutionary War series, TURN (based on the book "Washington's Spies" by Alexander Rose). Re: Washington's Spies and Roger's Rangers
I'm glad you mentioned that Jim, I had forgotten all about it. The show was nowhere near the level of HBO's John Adams, but it was interesting. I'll continue to watch it because of the subject matter, obviously I need to beef up on some of my Revolutionary knowledge in the meantimeJim wrote: Interestingly enough, Robert Rogers captured Nathan Hale. Rogers initially offered his services to the continental army, but they did not trust him. Therefore, he took up the King's Shilling. And the rest is history.
