After testing at MEPS, (score 79) my recruiter said that he had reserved a ranger slot for me, but I am a little nerves about the sf86.. See they were helping me fill it out, and just making shit up. They put my mother as living with me, (she lives with my step dad about 100 miles away) they didn’t want to list any of my brothers and sisters, or step dad ( I have 5 brothers and 4 sisters ) They also said the lie about everything.. Say I have never used drugs, or alcohol. I can understand that, I have never been arrested or in any trouble with the law. However to say I have never drank a beer at the age of 30? Who would believe that? Anyways I guess the questions for you RANGERS and SFC Hit_It is…. Am I right in wanting to be a little more honest… Or am I being pussy.
If I chose to lie about everything, then there is no going back, no changing my mind.. I am only worried because I seem to remember reading some where that some on was dishonorably discharged for lying on there sf86, and it was something minor.
The only thing I was told to be honest with is my shoplifting charge ( an Infraction ) that was over 10 years ago.

Making shit up? What happens when they go to do the interviews (and yes they do) and everything is wrong how does that look? It sure as hell doesn't look trustworthy. As far as the lying that is the most fucked up thing I have heard lately. The DSS investigators are researching your background by conducting interviews and background checks. They are trying to establish whether you are trustworthy or not. Can someone who lies about something as simple as drinking a beer be entrusted with classified material? While some people do choose to lie and may even get away with it, what if you are caught then is the punishment worth it? I think not.Legi0n wrote:See they were helping me fill it out, and just making shit up. They also said the lie about everything.. Say I have never used drugs, or alcohol. Look the absolutely best thing to do is be honest and straight forward. One of the reasons they want to know everything (besides seeing if you are a liar or not) is to prevent possible blackmail and extortion that could end up leading to espionage. So you lie about smoking a little dope, no big deal right? Well 3 years later you have a clearance and all is well then some shady motherfucker in a trench coat pulls you aside after you exit Malone's one night and shows you photos of you hitting a bong back in high school. No he says for a little information the photos won't be turned into your Chain of command or the MPs or anyone else. Well what do you do? Go and tell your local S-2 shop you lied to get a clearance and and get DXed from BN as well as face UCMJ charges? Or do you just give them a little info? A little classified info is like a little cancer or your girfriend is a little pregnant, or you have a little dick. There ain't no little on those things it either is or ain't.
So that is one of the main reasons they want you to be honest. You tell them you what you did and nobody can blackmail you later. So now you are thinking i will never get a clearance because of my background. bullshit. I know a guy that had a TS clearance while on active duty and got drunk fucked some shit up and got thrown in jail. Think he lost his clearance, fuck no, some extra duty and the fear of God put in him by his 1SG and CO but that was all. Did a little drugs and think that is going to stop you from getting a clearance? I saw a guy Fill out an SF 86 and had to ask for a continuation sheet for all the shit he did. Did he get a clearance, fuck yeah.
So go ahead and lie and get denied. That is just plain fucked up. If they are telling you this then maybe someone needs to talk to them about it. Maybe the MIBs need to head over there.
Just my thoughts but what the fuck do I know, I only ran an S-2 shop that processed clearances for 7 years and now I am a civilian running a security program for a defense contractor.

You don't want to lie about shit like that. The damn recruiter just wants to take what he thinks is the easy way. Just tell the truth, that is what they really want to see on the form. Like I said you might be able to lie and get away with it but if it does catch up with you it will bite you in the ass.
