Howdy. My name is Paul, and I'm currently a junior in high school. I've been hell bent on joining the military since I was a youngin'. I'm an all honors and AP student, and am working on getting my EMT-B this winter. As of now, I'm reading up on, and strongly considering a 68W w/ Opt.40 contract with the split option.
I've been involved with a couple of military cadet programs, and am very eager to take the next step. I honestly can't tell exactly explain why I want to be a Ranger, but it is mostly due to the caliber of people I'd have the opportunity to work with. After going through so many mini-boot camps and whatnot through the programs, I've realized how much happier I am on a team of people that want to be there as much as I do, and want to go balls-to-the-walls in their efforts to complete something, and do it well. I assume this is an attribute of Army Rangers, and I reckon that is one of my main reasons for my aspirations.

Welcome in, Paul. I am also an aspiring 68W Option 40 prospect. I've been doing a lot of asking around and reading up on the job and what it entails. If you have any questions for me, feel free to send me a message.
Also, I see by your username that you are from Pennsylvania. I'm from Media (near Philadelphia). What part are you from?

Thanks for the welcome.
I'm from Butler, a little place north of Pittsburgh. I travel a lot, but have yet to see the eastern part of the state.

Klutz22 - go read Intro FAQ - New members read and heed! atop the civilan forum - look for the info about dispensing advice before you have soldiered.
If I ever have to point out this to you again you will not be happy.
Do your self a favor & before you post somewhere else be sure to include (in that post) you have done 100 push ups.
& this little chit-chat between you and the newcomer shall be in a PM - not on our board.

Re: Introduction - Paul
The split option is for H.S. Juniors who are joining the Army Reserve. It allows them to attend basic training between their junior and senior year, and then AIT after they graduate H.S. This however does not apply to any active duty contracts, which would include a 68W opt. 40.

My bad. It was more to inform him than you, but I did not catch on to your jedi mind tricks early enough!

As I've proven, I still have plenty to learn. I'm reading up on what this forum has said about the split option, and I'm getting tons of information.
Again, thanks for the welcome, I'm glad I signed up here.

Ranger Steadfast,
Very sorry to overstep my boundaries. I was not intending on giving him soldiering advice, only advice on the basic questions one might have starting out that I have asked plenty of already. It will not happen again.
