Introduction- SicVisPacem
Hello Rangers,
Let me start off by saying thank you all for your service and sacrifice, great men such as yourselves are what inspired me to sign up for the 75th Ranger Regiment in the first place.
My name is Brian, I am 20 and I am a Future Soldier with a 91D opt. 40 contract and ship 20111025. I live in south-western Connecticut. I was hoping that by joining this site I would be able to learn from Rangers and possibly receive some advice from them. I have only ever met one confirmed Ranger and did not have much time to talk to him. Additionally, I have only 2-3 distant relatives with military experience, so this is all new to me... I think that I may be able to find some direction in my time here.
I look forward to serving with you.
Sincerely,
Brian

Thank you Nightcrawler! Will do!
Ranger ZoneIV, I definitely have. Studying my Ranger Bible and doing PT almost every day. Feels good to finally be going after more than 10 months of waiting.

Re: Introduction- SicVisPacem
Well, I recently hit a rather big snag. 2 days prior to shipping I had a bit of an accident involving a fire pit and got burned. They ended up renegotiating my contract and the only job available was 91S Stryker Systems Maintainer... Apparently you can't be a DEP for more than 12 months and this was the one job shipping soon enough... It seems I will have to re-enlist to get another Ranger contract... My new ship date is 20120228

Dumb move. Signing a contract for a job you don't want just to leave faster....dumb move...in my opinion of course.

Re: Introduction- SicVisPacem
I know, but honestly I don't even know that I have any options. It was that or the road according to my recruiters. They were not going to be willing to do anything else considering how much paperwork it took them in the first place and this whole thing has been a nightmare. "good luck enlisting from anywhere else in CT" was a direct quote.

Re: Introduction- SicVisPacem
Well that should tell you the character of your recruiters. It's too easy to find a different recruiter if they don't want to work with you any more. Is the trouble of finding a new recruiter more than the trouble of doing a job you don't want to do for the next 3-6 years?

There's a wise man, that Goon.
Sic, at least you now know what you'll be doing for the next 3-6 years. Fixing broke stuff and dreaming of what might have been.
But thank you for releasing a slot for my mentee.

Re: Introduction- SicVisPacem
gross. I just thought about what that job entails....permanent stryker bitch detail.... I think some of my worst memories in the Army involve strykers. specificially the cleaning and maintenance of, and lets not even talk about the lay outs.....
I would take laundry and bath specialist (yes, thats a real MOS...) over this job I think....
