The bottom- most rung of mental toughness is not doubting your success before you are even close to beginning. If it wasn't hard, it wouldn't be worth shit. Very few things worthwhile are easy (except baby making). Read up on the Regiment, and what past and present Rangers have done. There are books out there- I recommend "Ghost Soldiers" about the rescue of the POW's from the Cabanatuan prison camp, just to name one.
How do you test for mental toughness? Well, there's no written test for it buddy. Think back on your past. Are you apt to quit when the shit hits the fan? How many times have you decided something was just too hard to complete? Have no illusions about what you are considering. It will be a hard life, you will spend weeks and months away from your family sweating, bleeding and straining to be the absolute best you can at any task assigned. There won't be a thank you with your paycheck. Your will be handsomely rewarded however in that you will know without a shadow of a doubt that no matter the obstacle, no matter the adversary you WILL succeed, you WILL conquer. You will never look at anything the same way. You will never be the same. You will be a better man.
It will not come easily.

The way I became a Ranger and have earned the small amount of success I have had in life has been mostly due to one quality - determination. Lefty.

99 % of your questions can be answered by reading the forums, but only you know what is in your heart.

Read much and post little.
